Live scan fingerprinting

What Is Live Scan?

Live Scan is an automated background check process that requires digitized fingerprints.  The process is totally ink free.  The fingerprints are electronically transmitted to the statewide criminal database at the Department of Justice (DOJ) in a matter of seconds, instead of days normally required to send hard copy fingerprint cards through the mail.  The DOJ Live Scan provides reports with detailed information on California convictions based on a fingerprint match.  Anyone applying for certain types of employment or licensing may be required to be Live Scanned.

The background check is solely intended for determining an individual’s employability, promotability and or acceptability as a provider of public services.

Some professions requiring Live Scan services include but are not limited to:  Teachers, Day Care Employees or Home Day Care Providers, Senior Care Givers, Nurses, Doctors, Coaches, Foster Parents, Adoptive Parents, Security Guards, etc.

Additionally, those applying for licensing or certification as a Realtor, Stock Broker, Attorney, Pharmacist, Psychologist, Restaurant Owner, Notary, Live Scan Operator, or any other position that requires licensure or certification, may require the use of the Live Scan services.
